Crafting Logical Spaces with Passion + Purpose

Welcome!

Hello! My name is Olivia Kearney. I am a senior in Marymount University’s Interior Architecture & Design Program.

While navigating my academic career, I actively lead my school’s Interior Design Alliance club. I have participated in helping teams create a garment in the CosmoCouture 2022 and 2024 Fashion Show created by the IIDA Mid Atlantic Chapter for design firms HOK and Perkins and Will in DC. This past spring, I had artwork published in Marymount’s literary and arts magazine, BlueInk. My most recent achievements include my project being nominated in my class for the IDEC Spring 2024 Competition, and I was rewarded with being a Student Research Fellow over this past summer. The research was learning about optimal interior materials for the aging community using BIM and VR.

These experiences and rewards have shaped my academic career. As a designer, I value incorporating DEI into my designs and creating needed and meaningful spaces. I find myself sensitive to the design problem and meticulous to create a solution. This year I am looking forward to creating my Senior Capstone Project and defending my Honors Thesis this Spring.

What drives and motivates me through a project is the belief in the project’s concept and creation of a logical space. While working with a design challenge, the more I can relate and reason back to the design concept, the further the project drives me to create. I strive to relate the project’s interiors to its design program, paying attention to the details of the site, the users, and the type of facility. All my projects share an enthusiasm and passion for experimenting with shapes, colors, materials, and technology. The endless opportunities of what a project can be motivates me to keep contributing to the design challenge whether through research, sketching and rendering, or final presentation drawings.
